It’s really starting to look like WB (and possibly Bad Robot based on this report) is starting to build up Justice League Dark on the big screen. We know Bad Robot is developing a Justice League Dark project for HBO Max, and last week we learned the live-action Zatanna movie has entered active development at Warner Brothers, and today comes news of another member of the team headed back to the big screen.
According to The Direct, JJ Abrams and Bad Robot will be producing a new Constantine movie. I’ve looked into this with my sources and they confirm this appears to be happening. Constantine is also very fitting seeing as how they’re developing the Zatanna movie and the two characters have a history together in the comics. Also, Constantine was not the other member of Justice League Dark I was hinting at in the Zatanna story last week. That character is rather large…
Last December, The Batman writer Mattson Tomlin mad a cryptic Tweet that many felt was referencing Constantine as he’s a huge fan of the character:

Of course this raises an interesting question about what the Bad Robot Justice League Dark actually is. Could it be a TV series on HBO Max that will introduce characters such as Constantine, Zatanna, and Swamp Thing before they’re spun off into their own feature films? That would be an interesting way to handle DC characters and a great answer to what Marvel Studios is doing with their Disney+ series.
