David Ayer Confirms His Suicide Squad Cut Exists, Fans Need to Ask AT&T and HBO Max For It

Once again Suicide Squad director David Ayer has Tweeted about his “Ayer Cut” of Suicide Squad, confirming it exists and people would need to ask AT&T and HBO Max for it:

David Ayer’s cut of Suicide Squad not only exists, but fans have actually seen a near-finished version of it. Ayer’s cut was test-screened to public audiences in the lead up to WB hiring a trailer house to chop it into the version we got in theaters. That trailer house cut and his version competed among WB executives, and for some reason they chose the trailer house version (rumored to be because they wanted a Guardians of the Galaxy style movie).

His cut has as a very different tone for the Joker/Harley relationship, a huge fight between the Joker and the Squad in the sewer, and a more linear first act without jumping around via flashbacks. That version was nearly finished, so it wouldn’t take much to polish up the remaining VFX shots and put it out on HBO Max. It wouldn’t be nearly as expensive as finishing the Snyder Cut, and could even happen this year.
