It wasn’t long ago that we heard that Henry Cavill was starting early talks with Warner Brothers to return as Superman in some way in an upcoming cameo, and now Cavill is talking about the character again.
Variety has a video and interview where Patrick Stewart interviews Henry Cavill, and our Kal-El says he hopes to be Superman for a long time:
I believe it did. And it’s something I’ve always been incredibly grateful for. I’ve always been a fan of Superman. With a character like that, you carry the mantle with you off set. And it becomes part of your public representation. When you meet children, children don’t necessarily see me as Henry Cavill, but they might see Superman, and there’s a responsibility which comes with that. Because it’s such a wonderful character, it’s actually a responsibility I’m happy to have, and I hope that I get to play more of Superman in years to come.
There has been talk and rumors that WB doesn’t think a solo Superman movie can be successful. It absolutely can be, and Cavill’s knowledge and love for the character is just one of the ways they can make a great solo Superman film.
