Batwoman Showrunner Confirms Kate Kane will be Replaced With an Original Character

Last week a casting notice leaked online showing that there won’t be a recast Kate Kane in the second season of Batwoman, and instead she’ll be replaced with an original character. Despite Hollywood trades confirming the casting notice was indeed real, many still didn’t want to believe that they’d replace the character in that way.

Now the showrunner of Batwoman confirmed at the ATX Television Festival that they are creating a new character instead of recasting Kate. Give Me My Remote has the quote:

“I’m inventing a whole new character. In her past, she was inspired by Batwoman. She is going to take on the mantle and is completely maybe not be the right person at the time to be doing it. That’s what makes it fun.”

This is the first time the Arrowverse has had to recast the lead role in one of the shows, and doing it by inventing an all-new character who didn’t exist in the comics is definitely going to be a controversial choice…
